The Shekou Industrial Zone covers an area of only 2.14 square kilometers, but Yuan Geng has created a grand avenue within this snail shell. Once the industrial zone was approved, his first project was to relocate mountains and reclaim land to build a dock. China Merchants Group spent nearly a year building a 600 meter dock berth that can accommodate cargo ships under 5000 tons. In this way, Shekou immediately had the function of port transportation, and the industrial zone and Hong Kong were connected by passenger ships, solving the bottleneck of freight transportation.
