The most dramatic corporate surveys appeared in central China. A Japanese journalist discovered a machine from more than 140 years ago in a Chongqing steel plant. The factory with an annual output of 300,000 tons of raw steel all uses mechanical equipment before the 1950s. Among them, the steam rolling mill made in the UK more than 140 years ago is still in use. The reporter couldn't believe his eyes. He pointed to the factory marking board on the machine and asked the factory manager, "Did you make the era wrong?" The factory manager's answer was, "No, because the quality is good, I have been using it."
In the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on August 28, 1978, the newspaper's Beijing reporter Okada published an observation titled "China's planes always stop flights":

"China is developing domestic transportation, but civil aviation is still unreliable. First of all, the timetable is not reliable. On the China Civil Aviation Schedule, which costs one cent per cent, there is a mixed bag of 'ghost flights'. For example, on page 25 of the timetable, there is a flight to Harbin every day, and it takes off from Beijing at 8:15 in the morning. However, there are actually no flights on Thursday and Sunday. I went to the window to ask what the reason was. The answer was: 'Oh, what is the reason? It was probably when it changed.' After boarding the plane, I then went to the window and asked. How is it? There is no guarantee that I can fly to the destination on time. This time I went to Harbin from Beijing. I took off an hour late. I stayed in Shenyang for another four hours. After finally transferring to Changchun, I announced that 'because it was raining in Harbin, today's flight was cancelled'. I had to stay in Changchun for one night, and the next day I still 'stopping flight today'. When I arrived in Harbin, I realized the reason. It turned out that Harbin Airport did not have a concrete runway, and the plane was gliding on the grassland. No wonder it had to stop sailing when it rained."
